His mom is a good money manager, however there simply isn't "enough" -- that said, a wealthy relative wants Grant to go to college and is willing to pay for it. However, if Grant goes he knows his parents along with a younger brother and sister will suffer. They will go without. Grant wants to learn however puts the needs of his family above his wishes.Adventure follows and Grant is taken into the home of a stock broker with a sickly younger boy. The child, Herbert, is a gem. Delicate, and Grant encourages him to step away from his books and have fun. They play ball, go for walks, etc. There is a housekeeper with a step-son whom she wishes to ingratiate to the stock broker. The step-son steals, then attempts to blame our hero. Crooked thief is discharged and housekeeper blames Grant for that.Eventually the bad guy (step-son) kidnaps Herbert.I loved this one -- it felt complete. Some Horatio Alger stories seemed rushed at the conclusion. This one is not that way. It's satisfactory in all regards. This is definitely a keeper and it's very likely I'll read it again.Do well, be honest, and success will come to you. All good for our children to learn, read and internalize. I wish there had been Kindle books when my duo were younger. I'd have loved to share these tales with them. Back then (1980's and 90's) they costs for Horatio Alger stories was beyond my budget. I'm glad younger ones will be able to enjoy them again and at a bargain price. What could be better!?!This is a good book. Read and enjoy!
