It's packaged with intention, written with creativity, and presented with passion. I've listened to it 2 times, read it once, and attended the live event in Dallas, TX. Sure some of the content is basic for seasoned entrepreneurs, but how often we forget the basics and repeat "basic" mistakes. This is now a book I suggest to many of my clients just starting out so they know what's coming around the next turn. It's one of my top 3 reads in the last 24 months.I found myself laughing out loud regarding the story about Space Mountain, cheering when Darren overcame the resistance with the water filters, and resonating when reading about the crabs. This book will fire you up with inspiration and then send you out with practical application to go make your entrepreneurial mandate a reality! Thanks Darren, Meredith, and the SUCCESS team.

This time, it is 66% of small businesses and the reason for their demise is mostly due to their own inaction.Entrepreneur Darren Hardy has written a mixture of business autobiography and self-help inspirational guide, looking at the highs and lows of entrepreneurship. Running your own business does test your emotions to the max. Many compare it to parenting. There will be a lot of highs and pride-filled moments but also some very frustrating, soul crushing lows. We are all different.For this reviewer, the information provided was interesting and helpful - it is just the style and the way the book is put together was grating. It needs a sequential read and a bit of patience to get the most out of it, pulling some of the key points into the limelight with a pair of pliers. It is worth the rolled coaster relationship you might form with it though!The author brings some very incisive, often-overlooked points to the party that can be equally applicable to regular corporations. How many leaders and managers forget they are still sales people at heart, as the author notes: “Even if you have a sales force selling your product for you, you’re still going to be selling “big ideas” to partners and “the vision” to your employees. You’re going to be selling to new recruits persuading them to join you, banks to back you, vendors to trust you, and the manufacturers that make your product to speed up production and keep up the great work. You’re going to be convincing people to do their best. You’ll be asking people to lower their prices. You’re going to push, pull, persuade, negotiate, wheel, and deal. You’re going to sell. All day. Every day. That’s business.”Entrepreneurs are chided for hiding away from sales opportunities, noting that many tend to wrongly spend their time focussing on to-do lists, email checking, social media monitoring, endless meetings or paperwork. These can be necessary evils, but selling needs to be king.Maybe you don’t like the word “SELL” for whatever reason. Why not use the author’s suggestion of replacing this with “HELP” - so look how you can help others, look how your product or service can address someone’s deepest need or fear, consider what problem does it solve and articulate how it can make a positive difference?“Stop selling. Help instead,” as the author forcefully points out, adding “… if what you have doesn’t help? Then you’ve either got the wrong prospect or the wrong product.”So style and packaging notwithstanding – and this can be a highly personal thing – the book does deliver a lot of interesting, thought provoking ideas and concepts that may help you sustain and possibly transform your entrepreneurial activities. It appears to be one of the more credible books of its kind.
