By sherri jones-teachout For those of you who believe in the end of the world theory, I guess this book might be for you. I however, don't. The author mentions so many different products that you need to stockpile for survival, and many more to use in bartering for products from others. There are so many, no one would have the space to stockpile them, and then keep track of their expiration dates to replace them. He mentions stockpiling things like liquor, alcohol, cigarettes, and wood. Come on, wood. Where would any one store it, and once it rotted so bad, what would you do with it? I'm sure everyone living in New York City has lots of room in their tiny apartments to store all of these items. NOT!!!! This book just draws on the fears of the few who believe in doomsday, and the end if the world. Personally, if the world is coming to a point where I have to stockpile rat poison, cans of bug spray, and the many other things mentioned in this book, I think I would rather be one of the first casualties, rather than live such an existence. Does any one remember Y2K, when the new century rolled in, and the crazies that filled their bathtubs with water and stockpiled food, in case computers somehow caused their water to stop flowing into their homes, and stores to run out of food. You can't let your fears overcome your common sense. I believe in the goodness of the human spirit, and during past disasters, the majority of the population helps each other, and works together to assist those in need. I was given a copy of this book for an honest review.

Wheeler Holy shades of the cold war: atomic war scares, students hiding under their desks when survival drills were executed, bomb shelters in the back yard, and stockpiling of materials for a disaster that didn’t happen. The ideas presented in this book remind me of the arguments at that time that led government agencies to build and stock fallout shelters to make the populace THINK they were going to be able to survive catastrophic disaster. An idea all the experts knew to be false and misleading. Everyone was encouraged to stockpile all sort of items, most of which have been mentioned in this book. The result a lot of high cost survival goods being destined for landfill. Stockpiling in hopes of a catastrophe that will destroy our current level of civilization is impractical since foods, medicines, cigarettes, and even fire wood degrade to uselessness over a period of time. Leaving the person owning the stockpile with a warehouse full of trash acquired and stored at great cost. Money that could have been usefully spent preparing to survive a disaster not profit from it it it ever occurs. A situation, given human adaptability, I highly doubt unless mother nature (by any name) decides to throw a few Kilometer size rocks at us. I received a PDF version of this book at no charge in exchange for my honest review. My honest review is I paid what it is worth.

Not helpful - bad advice given By Amazon Customer This book wants to be helpful but in reality it's just a compilation of some seemingly useful articles. It tries to tell you that in case of an "end of world" situation bartering will be the only way to get the goods you need - but you have to learn it for yourself how to do it; so go to yard sales to learn it. I think that was the best suggestion of the book.Stockpiling a lot of thing needs a lot of space - what most people don't have. You shouldn't stockpile drugs, antibiotics as they expire and you don't know if they will help you or harm you. Throwing away drugs you bought and cannot touch (as that stock is for the end of world and you cannot use it for yourself) is an expensive business. And you shouldn't try to use antibiotics developed for animals.No real helpful advice is given in this book - for me it was 33 pages of scaremongering.I received a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
