About the Author I'm Dr. Cara Gubbins ~ animal intuitive, pet medium, award-winning author, speaker, coach, retreat leader, wife and mom. I grew up dreaming of being Jacques Cousteau - that's what drove me to go to college, get my Master's Degree and my PhD. My first book The Dolphins of Hilton Head was written about the dolphins I came to love while studying them for my dissertation. (And this book received a Royal Palm Book Award!) My story was included in Power Stories - Everyday Women Creating Extraordinary Lives, a collection of 20 inspiring true stories that I published with my co-authors Fran Taylor Powers and Laurie Santulli. And then I remembered another dream, an earlier dream, an impossible dream: to be Dr. Doolittle. So, at the age of 44, I went back to school to get a Master's Degree in Spiritual Psychology to help me make that dream come true....and it did! This is what happens when the curiosity of a scientist and the love of spirit meet By Rahasya Poe I suppose this is what happens when the curiosity of a scientist and the love of spirit meet. If it weren’t for an experience that I had during a 10-year period with my dog, I would be highly skeptical of Cara’s work, but I know firsthand that animals do communicate with us. However, while reading this book I was amazed by the complexity of thoughts and emotions from an animal that someone such as Cara can reveal. Cara asks three simple questions of the animals she communicates with, but you will be amazed at the depth of the answers she receives and will never look at your pet in the same way again.Rahasya Poe, Lotus Guide

By susanhhh If the concept of highly skilled and detailed intuitive communication with animals is new to you, get ready for a paradigm shift. If you're already comfortable with that reality, you are also in for such a treat! Books I've read by other animal communicators (classics such as Conversations with Animals, and, Learning Their Language) tend to include a lot of anecdotes from the author's pet readings for clients, which is great. With Dr. Gubbins unique quest and questions, she takes the field to a new level, intertwining the strengths of science with a spiritual focus to really get a rich understanding of the consciousness of different species, including many wild animals. With characteristic warmth and humor, Cara starts by sharing some of her journey to becoming an animal intuitive. Then the heart of the book is the ten middle chapters, each devoted to a different animal species, including a vivid telepathic encounter with a member of that species, relayed in a remarkably down-to-earth manner. These interactions engagingly demonstrate some of the unique dimensions of animal's inner lives, and how their idiosyncratic yet expansive awareness goes far beyond current conventional expectations. I purchased a paperback copy of this book to be able to better share it with others-- and I'm thrilled to have this means of sharing greater understanding of the richly interconnected consciousness of life.
2 of 3 people found the following review helpful. A truly beautiful and inspiring read! By Nat Addictive and enchanting!! This book was an extreme pleasure to read. Every animal lover should read this; from the one cat owners to the zookeepers to the wildlife biologists on safari. It has a universal beauty and theme that fits all. I absolutely adore and highly admire how Dr. Cara Gubbins shares her story and blends spiritualism and science together in such harmony. For me, it's been a slight challenge finding resources for insight into the minds of animals without winding up completely on one side or the other, and I've never felt that it was truly that segregated. FINALLY! Someone's professional and personal experiences that combine spirituality AND the Scientific Method! Truly inspiring! This is one of those books that reminds you to slow down and breathe, take time to enjoy life and life around you, be open-minded and a little brave. The world could use a lot more of that right now.
