Mills I have read many, many histories of London and almost every one has used or quoted Stow's Survey. I decided to read it on its own. It is like a time machine in print....very small print. I found this one where the spelling is modernized somewhat and have been enjoying it immensely. I am a real London fan...the London that isn't there any longer. The type is very small and I keep a magnifying glass nearby because after a while, the type does tire the eyes. I also keep my map close at hand too. Each of the 26 wards of the old city are examined for boundaries, ancient buildings...churches and monuments to those buried there and the local guild halls...and then other streets and less imposing buildings are described along with an explanation of events which happened there. It is the same pattern for all 26 wards. There is a list of all the mayors who served in the past and other supplimental information. This book certainly doesn't have a wide appeal, but I found it rewarding to read and sometimes when I would be interrupted by my partner while reading, I had the feeling that I was coming back in time and it startled me a bit. If you are a "London geek" like me, I would recommend this book. Stow was an admirable scholar who left such a rich amount of information but got cheated of hisjust rewards and died penniless. He lived in a time of treachery and greed and was a man better than his times.

A Logic Puzzle By doctormama This book features Ottolengui's favorite detective, a slick fellow who becomes the detective's great buddy, and their exploits in crime-solving. As is often the case with these late 19th century mysteries, there is action to be sure, but the story is sustained with logic, analysis, and deduction. I enjoy this kind of writing, and the thick formality of it doesn't bother me. Wouldn't want a steady diet of it, but this writer has a good imagination and an impeccable grasp of reasoning.

Read and Download Earth's Climate Evolution, by Colin P. Summerhayes

To understand climate change today, we first need to know how Earth’s climate changed over the past 450 million years. Finding answers depends upon contributions from a wide range of sciences, not just the rock record uncovered by geologists. In Earth’s Climate Evolution, Colin Summerhayes analyzes reports and records of past climate change dating back to the late 18th century to uncover key patterns in the climate system. The book will transform debate and set the agenda for the next generation of thought about future climate change.

The book takes a unique approach to the subject providing a description of the greenhouse and icehouse worlds of the past 450 million years since land plants emerged, ignoring major earlier glaciations like that of Snowball Earth, which occurred around 600 million years ago in a world free of land plants. It describes the evolution of thinking in palaeoclimatology and introduces the main players in the field and how their ideas were received and, in many cases, subsequently modified.  It records the arguments and discussions about the merits of different ideas along the way. It also includes several notes made from the author’s own personal involvement in palaeoclimatological and palaeoceanographic studies, and from his experience of working alongside several of the major players in these fields in recent years.

This book will be an invaluable reference for both undergraduate and postgraduate students taking courses in related fields and will also be of interest to historians of science and/or geology, climatology and oceanography. It should also be of interest to the wider scientific and engineering community, high school science students, policy makers, and environmental NGOs.Reviews:"Outstanding in its presentation of the facts and a good read in the way that it intersperses the climate story with the author's own experiences. [This book] puts the climate story into a compelling geological history." -Dr. James Baker

"The book is written in very clear and concise prose, [and takes] original, enlightening, and engaging approach to talking about 'ideas' from the perspective of the scientists who promoted them." -Professor Christopher R. Scotese

"[...]this sermon would ordinarily have struck him as one well worth preparing. The pulpit of St. John's marked a rung up in the ladder for him. That great fashionable church of mid-Victorian faith and manners held a congregation on Sunday mornings for which the Rector catered with care. It said a good deal for Peter that he had been invited to preach. He ought to have had his determined scheme plain before him, and a few sentences, carefully polished, at hand for the beginning and the end. He could trust himself in the middle, and was perfectly[...]".

It turned out to be a very interesting novel about a young British pastor who became a chaplain during World War I. Rather than dealing with interactions between the chaplain and combat soldiers, the novel goes into the young chaplain's struggles with his faith and the temptations he faces while being stationed in France. It was a bit difficult for me to follow at times due to the heavy use of early 20th centure British slang. This Kindle lookup feature was very helpful.

Having read the review, I decided to go ahead and read it anyways. My only complaint is the ending; I wish it would have continued a bit further. I will be reading this book again, it was that good.

8 of 9 people found the following review helpful. Interesting in light of "The Great Gatsby" Connection By NHF This book is highly enjoyable on its own, but particularly interesting just after rereading "The Great Gatsby", the way I found it. Fitzgerald referenced the novel in the following way: Nick Carraway picks a copy up in Myrtle Wilson's living room waiting for his friend Tom Buchanan to have illicit sex in the bedroom with her. After reading a chapter Nick recounts "either it was terrible stuff or the whiskey distorted things, because it didn't make any sense to me" The moral framework in which Keable's protagonist Peter conducts his affair with Julie in "Simon Called Peter" is so different from the materialist framework of Fitzgerald's characters that it seems a different universe. Keable is not clever, the way Fitzgerald is. But he has passion, belief and a good story to tell, even if a little long winded.

From the Back Cover You're living in Christ. You've accepted Him as Savior and you're doing everything in your power to live the good Christian life. You go to church, you tithe, you read your Bible, you pray. You're doing all the things a Christian should do. You're living in Christ. But is He living in you? Has he swept and cleared out every cobweb in your life? Or are you tightly gripping the broom yourself? Does His spirit motivate your every thought and action? Or is your Christian walk just a performance, an act that masks the emptiness inside? He's called us to more than a game of charades. He's invited us to taste the truly Christ–filled life. You're already in Christ; now let Him be in you. It's time for The Master's Indwelling.

About the Author South African pastor and author Andrew Murray (1828 1917)

was an amazingly prolific writer. Murray began writing on the

Christian life for his congregation as an extension of his local

pastoral work, but he became internationally known for his

books, such as With Christ in the School of Prayer and Abide

in Christ, that searched men's hearts and brought them into a

deeper relationship with Christ. With intense purpose and zeal

for the message of the gospel, Murray wrote numerous books

even after his "retirement" at age seventy-eight.

Meyer Not only does Andrew Murray touch the very depth of our relationship with our Lord and Heavenly Father but, he gives specific detail as to how we must approach achieving that relationship. This book goes the extra step beyond telling the reader what he/she do by putting our prayer life into words that give our mind and spirit a means to get there. We have often heard the expression that we must study harder or try harder but, we never get instruction as to how. Andrew Murray tells you how !

24 of 24 people found the following review helpful. Master's Indwelling by Andrew Murray By David In this book Andrew Murray covers the fundamental steps in the Christian walk in a very benifical way if the reader applys what is covered. Should be required reading for any Christian truly wanting to grow in Christ. Murray in his writtings stresses the aspect of the believer being In Christ and out from that position comes all of his living.

31 of 33 people found the following review helpful. The second book to be read for the new Christian By Garrett Kikuyama The first book to be read is Andrew Murray's AN EXCITING NEW LIFE. This book first points out the difference between the CARNAL, those whom are saved but still indulge to the FLESH and the SPIRITUAL, whom DENY THE FLESH. Then the book focuses on the SELF as something to also be DENIED. Then the book focuses on DENYING THE WORLD as a means to entering peace. The worldly things are to be replaced by THE KINGDOM OF GOD, or being like Christ by faith in the power of the Holy Spirit. Then the book explains our NEW LIFE IN CHRIST by dependence on God in every aspect of our lives and by our DEATH TO SELF accomplished by faith in Christ. HUMILITY, DEATH, and SURRENDER are the marks of a Christian CRUCIFIED WITH CHRIST. Then JOY, and FAITH grow in a growing Christian. Mr. Murray ends with the point that GOD MAY BE ALL IN ALL. By this he means that gradually CHRIST MUST INCREASE WHILE I MUST DECREASE.

I run several business and I've read tons of management, economic, and general business books. Anything that will help my business.I've read the beginning part of this book and it's a regurgitation of other people's ideas. This obviously happens a lot in the self-help book industry. But, what's worse is that this author doesn't seem to truly grasp the concepts as well - they are slightly off. In other words, when he presents the ideas in this book, the explanation of the ideas and how the ideas are applied in real life are not exactly correct. And, this can be dangerous for you if you misapply the concepts to your life/business. (This author's sole business experience apparently lies in sales. And, if you don't know this but salespeople are notoriously short in experience in other areas of business.)Additionally, much of the concepts he explains lack impact. Let me give you an example. One concept he espouses is that you should always work the hardest on improving yourself. This is very true and something that many business people learn early on. However, the bigger problem is how do you do this? This author gives no framework on how to do this. Do you simply read these types of books? Do you get a mentor? Of course, it's not an simple, easy answer but this author gives zero guidance.I think readers must realize that many of these self-help authors started in the sales industry. They are very good talkers and that's how they initially made their money and that's how they are making their money now. Morever, these books are not the endgame but they are used to establish credibility so that they can sell their courses or speeches which is the money machine. In my humble opinion, it's glaringly obvious to me that this is what this author is doing. You notice right away that he's shamelessly collecting popular ideas in other books and representing them to you to establish his credibility. In the hopes that you will join his network of entrepreneurs that coincidentally requires payment. If this author simply summarized the great ideas in other books, then it might be ok to buy this. But, the summary and application of these ideas are off so I would look elsewhere. Not only will you save the cost of this book but also your valuable time which is the most precious of all.

Several chapters in, and this is just complete plagiarism. Couldn't go any further -- if you want the content from the source, and not rehashed...look through the Jim Rohn collection. From Peter Voogd: "Is it possible to become twice as valuable, and make twice as much money in the same amount of time? Of course it is."From Jim Rohn: "Is it possible to become twice as valuable to the marketplace, and make twice as much money in the same amount of time? Of course it is. - See more at: http://realvipsuccess.com/how-valuable-are-you#sthash.SJNXpF7D.dpuf"If Voogd is such a fan of Rohn that he is willing to plagiarize the guy's life work, then maybe he should offer to be the voice over 'audible' guy for Rohn's books rather than stealing from Rohn's expertise/wisdom. On second thought, Voogd's voice is pretty grating. Never mind.

While I don't believe his reviews are fake like most people are saying- It's called marketing people By Willie Prevolt Jr. While I don't believe his reviews are fake like most people are saying- It's called marketing people. This is the power of building an audience. With that being said, I honestly like the book. The reason why I am giving him a 1 star, is because it's not his book. It's Jim Rohn's, Robert Kiyosaki, Tony A. Robins and that's just based on the books I have read in the past who know's how many other people are mashed in there too. That bit about 'What would you call a girl who was xyz', etc... about Oprah Winfrey- was taken word for word out of Tony Robins book. It's kinda hard to have a bad book when you cheery pick the best parts of top sellers. The title should have been "A Summary Of Some of The Top Sellers" not as catch as "6 Months to 6 Figures" but people wouldn't be questioning your integrity. If you enjoyed this book and you want the full meal or you would like to know about some other books...Look into:Rich Day Poor Day, Unleash The Giant Within, Jim Rohn's audios and you will find a lot more than what you have here. With that being said if you want to hear about the internet how to build a business leveraging the internet then you might want to read this book. Most of the stuff he talks about is very abstract, and the few lessons that company with this book are pretty good. Like I said in the beginning, I like the book.Just being honest.~ Willie Prevolt Jr.
