About the Author Nellie L. McClung (1873-1951) was the author of four novels and several volumes of short stories and non-fiction. McClung was one of five women responsible for the 1929 Persons Case that established women as "persons" according to Canadian law.

Fascinating read By CTargett I had a hard time with the first few chapters - a bit too much about war, but after that I was impressed that a woman at that period of time could capture the events so realistically that I even wonder should the current presidents be reading this book for information! This book is just as relevant today as it was 80 years ago

Times like ours were times like McClung's By A Customer Originally published in 1915, just after the start of the First World War, In Times Like These was one of McClung's early works. But reading the book 85 years later the reader might get a feeling of elation -- how far we have come, because women have the vote, after all! -- or deflation as we realize how far we still have to go. As McClung says, "The world has suffered long from too much masculinity and not enough humanity..."
