"This book shows the sizzling future of clean energy with enough enthusiasm to dispel the doom-and-gloom that paralyzes most discussions of climate change.” Durwood Zaelke, President, Institute for Global Governance and Sustainable Development “Today, solar is the fastest-growing source of renewable energy in America. That’s not by fluke. Tam Hunt’s new book offers important insights into solar energy’s amazing success story—and why solar is so important to our nation’s future.” Rhone Resch, President & CEO, Solar Energy Industries Association (the largest U.S. solar industry association) "Of all renewable energy sources, solar is the most abundant and will play a major role in the conversion of the world's energy infrastructure to a clean and renewable one. Tam Hunt's book is easy to read and understand and is key for helping to educate the public and policymakers about solar's part in this energy revolution." Prof. Mark Jacobson, Director of Stanford University’s Atmosphere/Energy Program "Tam's new book is a readable and engaging look at the inter-twined solar, electric vehicle and battery storage revolutions, from an insider with over a decade of experience in policy debates and battles in California, one of the centers for developments in these exciting new fields." Terry Tamminen, Former Secretary, California Environmental Protection Agency, and current President of Seventh Generation Advisors. "Tam Hunt's new book, Solar: Why Our Energy Future Is So Bright, reveals that we are closer to solving our current energy crisis - getting off of fossil fuels before we roast the planet - than most of us have imagined. It is exciting to read such a technically grounded work of optimism." Daniel Pinchbeck, founder of the Center for Planetary Culture and author of Breaking Open the Head.

By Amazon Customer This book put me.in such a good mood this week during the runup to the climate change conference in Paris. While Hunt doesn't claim all our environmental problems are solved, he makes a compelling case that we've hit important milestones in that road.Solar is a quick read packed full of data and analysis. I'd recommend it as a primer on the topic. Read it straight through for a strong overview, then go back and focus on the data and links provided for a more in depth understanding of the subject matter. While the target audience might be professionals working in renewable energy, the writing is straightforward enough for even non-scientists like myself. I highly recommend it to anyone with an interest in the subject, positive or negative.

Well-research and crafted; ultimately a positive look into the future By Nymosis By almost every measure, we as a global village are better off now than in any point in human history. Disease, war and famine have become less consequential sixteen years into this new century. While mainstream media outlets may present a different and admittedly more negative view of our world and society as a whole, this is not the case.I'd go as far as to say that mankind is facing our most serious perils in all of his long climb from the caves to the cosmos. This threat I'm referring to is of course the sustainability of our planet. Tam does a great job in the book to highlight the positivity of advances in environmental efforts. The book explores human uses and technology advancement in solar energy. The book seems to me to be well-research and eclectic; the reader will be able to tell it is the result of many difference sources being well synthesized. Overall, the positive message and optimistic nature of solar technology in the future made this book enjoyable to read and lots to be desired in the future.
