5 of 5 people found the following review helpful. Cabin Fever - So very good. By Twostory This book was more about relationships than anything else. It is not your typical "Western" novel. Instead it's an interesting blend of love, marriage, egos, regrets, in-laws, partners and adventure - all while trying to earn a living during the early 1920's American west. There were some impossible coincidences transpiring here and there that were, I guess, necessary for the story to unwind. A little action, a little fun, some twists, surprizes and a lot of believable human relations and feelings between the small cast of characters - all told with an interesting flair and style. A very talented author, yes.

If you love her at first sight, as I did, you might possiby be interested to know that some of my other loves at first read are Heinlein, Maupin, and Alger.Edited to add that I was shocked by a character's casual expression of racism late in the book, but I guess that's the chance you take with vintage fiction.

B.M Bower provides wonderful and detailed character descriptions; but then sends them away and we don't read about them for several chapters. When they return they connect with other characters and more is revealed about them. I was disappointed with the ending. I felt that Bower didn't really know where, when or how the book was going to be finished. She gives us a "well made ending" that could be used for many other novels. Don't let the ending deter you from reading it. Its perfect for spending the day by the fire and are suffering from a case of cabin fever.
