About the Author Born Mary Anne Madden in Cootehill, Co. Cavan, Ireland, Sadlier published roughly sixty novels and numerous stories. She wrote for Irish immigrants in both the United States and Canada, encouraging them to attend mass and retain the Catholic faith. In so doing, Sadlier also addressed the related themes of anti-Catholicism, the Irish Famine, emigration, and domestic work. Her writings are often found under the name Mrs. J. Sadlier.

But she did a fantastic job in bringing hundreds of resources together By Marilynn Hughes This is really a fascinating work, and especially intriguing since it was written by an unlikely source. But she did a fantastic job in bringing hundreds of resources together. Very informative, highly researched, and a classic that everyone interested in purgatory should read.
4 of 6 people found the following review helpful. Exceptional By Darby O'Gill As a Roman Catholic I often pray for the Souls in Purgatory. So many Catholics have forgotten this duty and too many 'Christians' do not even acknowledge this Doctrine. Hopefully this wonderful book will convince them.
